Zheng He-1405 A.D.

Dear Blog,

It is 1405 Zheng He, the explorer, has been traveling to the coasts of southeast Asia and India. He has also traveled to the many ports in East Africa. Throughout his journeys the Chinese merchants have begun to settle in Southeast Asia and India. His voyages show local rulers the strength and power of China’s empire.

Mongols Take China-1162 A.D.

Dear Blog,

Currently it is 1162 A.D. and the Mongols are invading China. The Mongols brought strict military rule along with their very strong army. They are also known for having the best horseman in the world. I sure hope that the Great Wall will be helpful with this invasion.

Tang Dynasty-618 A.D.

Dear Blog,

Its 618 A.D. and the Tang Dynasty has just emerged along with their first emperor, Li Yuan. The Tang dynasty took over after the Sui dynasty collapsed. Hopefully the Tang dynasty will last longer then the Sui dynasty, seems like they just can’t stay together for a long time.

Sung Dynasty-960 A.D.

Dear Blog,

I am in 960 A.D.and Zhao Kuangyin just recently brought China together and founded the Sung dynasty. They own less territory then the Tang dynasty though. Also it seems like the North keeps threatening the Sung dynasty.

Han Dynasty-141 B.C.

Dear Blog,

Its 141 B.C. and the Han dynasty has been ruling China since 202 B.C. But a new leader, Wudi, is now the Han emperor. He has helped strengthen the government and economy. But before Wudi, the Han dynasty had an earlier emperor that created the foundation for the Han Dynasty.

Buddhism comes to China-206 B.C.

Dear Blog,

Here in 206 B.C. a new religion has arrived in China. The goal of Buddhism is Nirvana. Nirvana is a state of no wind, beyond the limitations, and there really is no definition of it. Also the 4 Noble Truths is a very important part of this religion. The first is Dukkha which is life dislocated, then Tanha which is desire, Overcoming, and Eight Fold Path. Ever since Buddhism has come here to China it has brought a sense of balance.

Great Wall-220 B.C.

Dear Blog,

It is 220 B.C. and our official first emperor has now started the Great Wall of China. Ying Zheng, the emperor, is using his plan to link pre-existing walls to make one long wall for battles in the near future. The wall is also planned to be used as a boundary line for China. Even though the building has just begun, people have already started to die because of no food and water.  According to Ying Zheng this wall is going to take many years to build I wonder how many lives it’s going to take.

Lao Zi and Taoism-300 B.C.

Dear Blog,

It is 300 B.C. and Lao Zi has created the philosophy of Taoism. Lao Zi was otherwise known as “old master” he was the creator of Taoism which is a philosophy that is the idea of nature and the yin and yang which are opposites. Also it is about following the path or way through life. This is important because Taoism will most likely be followed in the future.

Confucious: 551 B.C.-479 B.C. -

Dear Blog,

Its 479 B.C and Confucius (Kong Fuzi) has just passed away. He was an important wandering teacher who had developed the idea of Goodness. He used it to hold society together and he always said that in order for the people to stay in harmony, the ruler has to be a role model. If the ruler is good, the people will follow. He also taught us that family is the foundation of society.  He kept the people together by spreading his teachings  and blending his ideas with traditional Chinese ideas.

Unification of China-220 B.C.

Dear Blog,

Here in 220 B.C the Qin Dynasty has recently unified China. They are masters in riding horses and strategies. They used their expertise of horses and foot soldiers to bring China together.  This monumental time of unification is very important because most likely it will be the foundation of China and their upcoming events.
